,Tweet Facebook Mail Cancer survivor and blogger Danielle Wicks decided to stop using shampoo about two years ago and said she has not looked back since. The Queensland mother rinses and massages her childrens’ scalps with water once or twice a week which she says helps the scalp’s natural oils distribute throughout the hair.“I have been really researching more and more into a more natural lifestyle. Of course, I do love my modern luxuries but these must not impact mine or my family’s health directly,” she wrote on her blog.“Washing our hair and body too often strips it of its natural oils and the microbiome is affected. Our bodies are designed to protect themselves, so why do we use a bunch of products on us that are unnecessary?”She said she brushes her kids’ hair in the morning and at night and she has a shower with them once a week to properly rinse their scalp. “My five-year-old’s hair is super thick so in the future I might look at rinsing it with about a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed in a glass of water to rinse any build up. Haven’t needed to do this yet but it’s a good option,” she said.“Why do I love this method? It's easy, it's almost free and I know their hair is healthy. It is said that we absorb up to 90 percent of what goes on our skin, so this is less for their little bodies to deal with.”RelatedRush to publish COVID-19 research saw errors in top medical journals triple, study findsNew health alert in South Australia after positive COVID-19 case breached quarantineTwo new coronavirus cases reported in South AustraliaWatch the video for the full TODAY Show interview.
